Finished!

After much work the birdhouse quilt is finished. YAH!!! I think it turned out beautifully.

I found time to work on a new love as well. . . stitchery. I have just fallen in love with this. The ones here are from Rosalie's (Melly and Me) pattern "Love Is".

I think that the Australian ladies have it hands down over us here in the U.S. when it comes to designing. Check out some of these ladies and see if you don't agree:

Quilt Finishes

Here are two recent quilt finishes. I made these Quillows for a friend and am really not happy with them. This is my first attempt at them and I just don't like them much. =0( Maybe I'll get happier with my next attempt. And here is a block for a memory quilt. This quilt will be a king sized quilt made up of birdhouse blocks made from a loved one's clothes. The block patterns are adapted from Thimbleberries patterns.

New T-shirt Quilt finish

I just finished this quilt for a girl at work.
My husband was holding the quilt and it is huge so it didn't all come out in the picture like I'd have liked. He's not the photography perfectionist I am but after 17 years I guess I'll keep him ;0)

Quilt Pink

Here is one of my latest finishes. I did this in memory of a lady at work who recently died from breast cancer. The quilt is being auctioned to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation in honor of this wonderful lady.

Great Smokey Mtns

We just got back from a Labor Day weekend excursion to the Smokey Mtns. It was wondeful. We drove up to Newfound Gap and hiked a bit.
Then we went to Clingman's Dome and hiked to the top. The sign says 1/2 mile up but it was straight up and it sure felt like more than 1/2 mile.

The next day we did the tourist thing. Then we headed out to Cades Cove. The scenery was here wish you were beautiful ;0)

Water Bottles

I have often used the Nalgene brand water bottles (made of Lexan plastic) thinking I was doing something good for the environment by reusing a water bottle. However, I recently read an article about how even those water bottles can leak toxins. The article mentioned stainless steel bottles are better and the water will taste purer (is that a word?). So after much research and investigation I found that the Sigg brand water bottle is considered the best on the market. Not only is it the most durable but it far exceeds FDA standards and emits no toxins into your water. And they come in great colors/designs!!! =0) So today I bought 2. One for me and one for my little girl.
